Assuming you already have bf2hub client installed, folow the next steps:

1. BF2Hub Client - revert patches.
2. uninstall BF2Hub Client.

Step 1 and 2 can be skipped if you dont have the BF2Hub Client installed. For example when you did a clean installation of Battlefield 2.

3. Download and install GamespyRedirector (  https://bf2stats.com/Leaderbaord/info/info.html )
4. Create Service providers BF2Hub, BF2Stats and PlayBF2:

5. Start Battlefield 2 using the GamespyRedirector:

Note: Check the green checkmark next to "Service Online" to the right of "Service Provider".

6. In Battlefield 2 login screen go to "manage acounts" and create new account on BF2Stats.
7. Login to Battlefield 2 using your new account.
8. Login to the =FL= First-Legion (bf2stats)  server or any other server in the server browser list.


Most common issues:

Issue: After login in to Battlefield 2, you cant create an account on BF2Stats.
Cause: The bf2.exe file in your Battlefield 2 instalation folder is still patched.
Solution: Overwrite your bf2.exe file with the original bf2.exe file. ( contact me for more info ).

Once you are part of the server there will be a big list on the left side, these are divided into text and voicechannels.
The Hashtag channels are text only, the microphone logo channels are voice channels.
On the right side you see the list of server members, it will show you both online and offline members.

The picture below will have a clear overview of the things mentioned before:

Entering a channel is easily done with a single click on where you want to go, this makes it easy to switch between channels.
Once you enter a voice channel it will be seeable in the left bar who else is in the channel with you.
People that talk (including yourself) will show with a green circle around their picture frame.
While you are in a voice channel you can still use text channels without leaving the voice channel.
In the left lower corner it will show that you are speech connected in green.
Next to this there is a little phone with a cross, this is the button for leaving your voice channel. Just clicking the cross in the right upper corner will not result in leaving the channel!!!
All the way down next to your name it will have the standard icons: microphone for muting yourself and headphone for muting yourself and muting others.

Cause:
The game cannot communicate or start the PnkBstrB.exe service on your computer.

Solution 1:
Update your Punkbuster by downloading pbsetup from: http://www.evenbalance.com/pbsetup.php
Rightclick the downloaded file and run as administrator

Solution 2:
Re-install Punkbuster by downloading pbvsc from: http://www.evenbalance.com/downloads/pbsvc/pbsvc.exe
( optional - first completely remove punkbuster first and install Punkbuster again afterwards )
Use "Test Services" button to see if everything is okay

Solution 3:
Check if PnkBstrA services is running
  1. Go to the Start Menu and enter "services.msc" in the Run/Search bar.
  2. Find "PnkBstrB".
  3. If the service has not started do so by right clicking and select "start".
  4. Then right click PnkBstrB, click properties and make sure PnkBstrB is set to start automatically

Solution 4:
Give Punkbuster access:
Your antivirus / firewall and other security software might block Punkbuster. You need to explicitly allow Punkbuster through your firewalls and whitelist its services with in your security software.
This will tell you how to let Punkbuster through the Windows Firewall, for your other third party applications you will have to look through help files about how to do it.

For Windows 7 or higher navigate to "Control Panel - System - Security - Windows Firewall - Allowed apps
Click "Allow Aniother App" and navigate to "c:\Windows\SysWOW64" and select PnkBstrA and PnkBsrb and set there settings to be allowed through public and private.

The DirectX file d3d9.dll is not like the original file delivered by Microsoft. As this can be used to cheat you have been kicked from the server
